What is Art?

I always tend to blog about random subjects but one thing I absolutely adore is art...in general. Growing up in an artistic family art has always been so influential to us and we were always surrounded by it; I think art in general is a way for a person to express him/herself in a unique way and some will understand which is the beauty of it...it's subject to interpretation. But here are a few of my favourite pieces of art and the artists who are incredibly talented:

Konstantin Somov- The Lady in Blue
There is so much that happened in Eastern Europe regarding their own version of a Renaissance period and since I am a sucker for Romanticism [which is a different art period however] I have always adored this piece




Another one of my favourites is Ilya Repin who was one of the "Wanderers" they were a group of Russian art students who rejected formal school teaching and created an art movement of Renaissance style art in Eastern Europe



And yes the Girl with the Pearl Earring [the film I also adore]




And definitely cannot forget Caravaggio
